You'll never get cold in this game (on default climate settings) with all the access to clothing layers, and how unpowered buildings magically heat for huge amounts. With Sunday Driver, your vehicle will not perform when you need it. Quick question about the traits that reduce skills: If I have a skill that does First Aid -1 for example can it be completely reverted by just simply levelling First Aid? Most persist. The end result is usually pulling a few more zombies than you would without the trait, making it a decent negative trait for a combat build. -30% exp for weapons but +35% exp gain from fast learner = 5% net gain for weapons, PLUS 35% increase exp gains on all other skills (carpentry, aiming/reloading, etc. The negative effects from these traits will not last. Also makes vehicles louder. I wanna make a full late game character. It reduces the amount of time spent sleeping, increasing the number of hours you can remain awake before the tired moodle appears and giving you more time in the day for whatever. High Thirst (water is trivial unless you have month-long drought) Underweight (just gorge yourself on perishable food before the power goes out) Hemophobic (just wash your clothes) Smoker (this is a positive trait disguised as a negative one) Prone to Illness (free points; just don't sit out in the rain naked for hours) Eventually Claustrophobic will wear off in Project Zomboid as well. Even if I dont want a huge disadvantage at the start of the game I usually grab this perk. Take with outdoorsman to negate most of the negative effects and gain 2 free points. 2 High Thirst. This Negative trait can also be mitigated by simply ensuring you cook your food correctly in Project Zomboid. In a game where getting injured has a high chance of death, you won't want to get hurt often anyway. It's great, I don't know why you think it's bad. Its that easy. Kind of a niche case but worth mentioning. PERSONALLY my ideal car is a Horizon or Dart with a 100/100 performance muffler so I would not want Speed Demon to ruin the stealthmobile. These two are weird. The xp boosts that gymnast provide are pretty useful to keeping you alive in combat so I always take it. Keep up the good work. The best traits in Project Zomboid are Short Sighted, High Thirst and Weak Stomach, they are examples of traits that cause little to no inconvenience and or are easy to fix. High Thirst Points: +6 Effect: 200 percent increased thirst. lose = to misplace or get rid of something ("How did you lose the keys?"). the new exercise system introduced into the Build 41 version of the game, 10 best traits to take in Project Zomboid, How to Forage in Project Zomboid Build 41.60 (Search Mode), How to Stitch Wounds in Project Zomboid Build 41. Aside from exhaustion, sleepiness is the biggest danger as the more tired you get, the more your perception decreases. inconspicuous actually sucks. Which DOES affect stamina. Claustrophobia on a no sleep MP server is just free points. +1. Id always take one of these. Unless youre able to set yourself up well with vehicles, gas, weapons and meds before you die; youre going to have to do the early game grind all over again. Negative traits give you points back, which you'll need if your occupation puts you in the negative. Farming isnt too difficult to level, either. First aid is not. You will wake up close to tired. .s5ap8yh1b4ZfwxvHizW3f{color:var(--newCommunityTheme-metaText);padding-top:5px}.s5ap8yh1b4ZfwxvHizW3f._19JhaP1slDQqu2XgT3vVS0{color:#ea0027} I don't understand why people like it. For more information, please see our Maybe useful when multiplayer releases, but until then this perk is basically useless. I'd rate it much higher, especially for newer players as it will help prevent deaths. Due to the fact that once you are bitten you are infected anyway, I always end up grabbing thin-skinned. I think speed demon also increases your gas consumption so thats yet another reason not to take it. Here you will find what we consider the best positive traits to choose in Project Zomboid. This means driving through bushes, towing vehicles, and having to life-or-death plow through zombies, will fail horribly. All rights reserved. Organized: 3/5 if not 4/5. Also IRL Nervous Wreck. /*# sourceMappingURL=https://www.redditstatic.com/desktop2x/chunkCSS/TopicLinksContainer.3b33fc17a17cec1345d4_.css.map*/I think Keen Hearing is one of the best traits in the game and has kept me alive more times than I can count. Free points. Some traits in Project Zomboid can't be picked at the same time, however, you can pick both Underweight and Fit, which seem to cancel each other out. 2- Not directly harmful, but either a bit too expensive or too situational to be worth using. I mostly agree with you, with differences probably coming from differences in play style. The Weak Stomach trait causes the player to have more food illnesses but is easily avoided if you watch what you eat in the game. These skills suck as short blunt and spear will take longer to gain levels in. Or just don't go outside in the wet and cold? The annoyance and extra time of Hemophobic would put it at 3/5 in my opinion. Don't take it if you're planning on using an axe as a main weapon. Luckily this is manageable as long as you have a steady supply of cigarettes. Before posting try the sledgehammer. It's good, but even at max speed boost you can be wasting hours of your real life into this game by taking this trait instead of Fast Reader. Whenever a zombie performs an attack the player has a chance to block it. One of them is asthmatic, which I don't think should be too much of an issue if I'm going for a stealth build. Scratches and Lacerations you can heal from but theres no coming back from bites. A great one to take with pacifist is Fast Learner as it will end up in a net positive multiplier for weapons. and the bonus to build times and construction strength are great too. Horrible. That being said, Ill usually take it if I can. Though its hard to justify taking for 8 points. if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined'){ez_ad_units.push([[300,250],'setreadygame_com-medrectangle-4','ezslot_8',113,'0','0'])};__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-setreadygame_com-medrectangle-4-0'); if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined'){ez_ad_units.push([[300,250],'setreadygame_com-narrow-sky-1','ezslot_16',146,'0','0'])};__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-setreadygame_com-narrow-sky-1-0');Considering that you can get water through many different sources all the way through the game, I generally consider this free points. Pacifist, despite what it says, only makes you get 30% less experience with weapons. It makes getting bitten extremely easy. You can gain a couple levels in them by just watching TV in the first 9 days. Never found a lack of food to be an issue personally. Stops you from reading skill books, massively reducing your skill XP gains. Out of shape, unfit - by training fitness. With Project Zomboid youre generally going to be spending most of your time avoiding the action rather than tearing through zombies. You are correct. Reading skill books is often a useful way to pass time and alleviate boredom during times when you don't want to go outdoors- in rain, fog or darkness for example. -1 Fitness. However, there are a ton ofboth positive and negative traits to choose from. Again you probably don't know how detection works in the game. Slow Reader makes an easy two points to put into something better.if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined'){ez_ad_units.push([[580,400],'setreadygame_com-box-4','ezslot_9',119,'0','0'])};__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-setreadygame_com-box-4-0'); This might seem like a bad idea to you at first if you are an action hero style of gamer. I like it, but more importantly a lot of other people consider it very useful as well. It makes the low speed torque of vehicles almost completely vanish. Athletic has an edge over strong, as exhaustion is a killer. Nimble along with weapon proficiency and fitness is the key to taking on sizable groups effectively. Despite Project Zomboid's slow healing ability, it is actually an enjoyable negative trait. Of course, some are rendered irrelevant by the extreme end game: Slow reader is not relevant after all books have been read, neither is slow learner after all skills are maxed out / max level is reached. Being even drowsy drastically reduces your melee damage output. 2 Skills boosted, but there are probably more useful perks you can take. ._3oeM4kc-2-4z-A0RTQLg0I{display:-ms-flexbox;display:flex;-ms-flex-pack:justify;justify-content:space-between} To stop crashing all the time, drive slower. How do Project Zomboid traits work, exactly? Create an account to follow your favorite communities and start taking part in conversations. To achieve this, you will need to balance out positive traits with negative ones. You can really live without this one, 6 points is costly too. I never play without it. Underweight has a similar penalty, it makes your attacks deal less damage. Luckily, we will go over some of the best negative traits we like to pick during our playthroughs. (It has positive and negative traits in mind) Until next time, stay frosty survivors! Create an account to follow your favorite communities and start taking part in conversations. I wouldn't say its a must have, but if you have 6 points to spare its worth considering. NEVER take this. If you get -1 fitness from weight trait you'll need to be a Firefighter or else this trait is terrible and completely wasted. While you might be shuddering at the thought of making one of the survival mechanics in a survival RPG even worse to deal with dont! Consider stout and fit if you don't have the points. Absolute garbage because of how it works. Don't bother. Obviously you wont be able to take these traits together but you can match it with others that reduce fitness as well. Chances are you are taking a character with an occupation and already have an idea on what which weapons you wish to skill up. I'd also like to hear your opinions on the traits, and whether I'm wrong in my judgement of any of the perks lol. Panic cancels out boredom, turning claustrophobia into a big-brain strat. Every traits related to weight and fitness/strenght can evolve/go away. As its an RPG game you are developing your own story, so play as you wish. Check near gas stations and inside residential homes and youre bound to come across some cigarettes to sate those smoker cravings. Unfit: Very low endurance, very low endurance regeneration. My opinions on each trait in the game I made in an ADHD fuelled frenzy. Runner: 3/5. The only real issue would be sleeping but you can just choose a base with a big enough room to place a bed in. It doesn't make it trash, but it does make it weaker than many people thought. But let me convince you why pacifist is a good choice. As long as you arent fighting zombies in melee combat non-stop theres no reason that should need first-aid. Although the description of the negative trait says it decreases theplayer's vision, It appears not to affect the character in any noticeable way. Must have for people wanting to use axes as their main weapon. The only opinion I disagree with is thin-skinned. Might as well take some extra points if you have to eat a lot anyway. Because of this I'd personally put it at 2, but I won't dispute a 3 too much simply because for whatever reason other people somehow find it to be useful. How did you find the list? I picked ugly, underweight, social anxiety, bald, oversleeper and underachiever. Still pretty bad for new players. Prone to illness makes you more likely to get a cold but outdoorsman makes you less likely to get and cold and you're something like 90% less likely to get scratched on a tree which also covers thin skinned. Interesting challenge to play with but its not worth it for regular players, even for 12 extra points. And disease can be avoided by spacing out crops. In order to start playing, your points must have a total of 0. Whether you get lucky with a tub of ice cream in the freezer or come across a couple of sticks of butter putting on long-term weight is not so hard in Project Zomboid. You should just rest when you get hurt and avoid combat for a few days so that your wounds can heal. Keen Hearing: 3/5 simply because it's very useful and pretty much guarantees you'll never be caught offguard by a zombie behind you (at least as long as you're not fast-forward, but even then I think it auto-slows-down). Tomatoes do have a reason to be grown in that they can be used in mouse traps (IDK why), however they're still bad because the plants grow too few tomatoes and take too long to grow in comparison to cabbage. Makes driving while towing, or driving already slow/heavy vehicles (especially modded ones) a nightmare. This perk probably wont get you killed, but i fucking hate playing with it. Ive told my friends who are new to the game to take thick-skinned to start off with until theyre more comfortable to take the training wheels off. May be worth it if its something you personally struggle with, or if it fits your playstyle. I'll pose this question to you all so that a list may be compiled: what are all the negative traits that can go away with time? They need to give it more features and make it much stronger. I replace hemophobic with claustrophobic, there are a few tricks that make it not a big deal. Anything that increases endurance loss will probably get you killed. Taking the Fire Officer profession with one of these allows you to take underweight without affecting the bonuses of high level strength and fitness. Basically, traits are modifiers, both positive and negative, that can be chosen during character creation in the form of occupations, aka hobbies. And when You have 9 fitness it's not going to cause any problems, so probably even 4/5 if you have 9 fitness. I've never found food to be a massive issue in this game, just forage for a few hours and you'll have enough food for the week. Generally high-fat foods are going to be easy to find. ._2Gt13AX94UlLxkluAMsZqP{background-position:50%;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-size:contain;position:relative;display:inline-block} Nimble increases your move speed in combat stance but is almost impossible to level without some kind of boost. It helps peel away some of them from larger groups. While the power is still working throughout the world you can get water from any kitchen or bathroom, after the power and water have been cut off of course you can boil water using a campfire to make it drinkable. I don't see very many discussions on this topic, and the wikis are barren with which traits can go away aside from those as a result of the recent Fitness update. YouTuber Retanaru also posted a great video breaking down some of the best traits to use that you can see here. Now, SP and MP differ slightly because of no time forward. Because of this, it may prove to be a daunting task, and new players may feel unsure which should they pick or which is the best. This trait would be a hard sell even as a negative. Leave a comment below and once youre done with this list you can also check out another post I did on the top 10 best traits to take in Project Zomboid. I don't see very many discussions on this topic, and the wikis are barren with which traits can go away aside from those as a result of the recent Fitness update. Napkin math puts all of that together as +42 trait points that either can be worked off or will eventually become irrelevant. Comments are on moderation and will be approved in a timely manner. Like I can be facing forward and hear an out-of-place moan and know that there's a zombie behind me but still not in my perception circle. More annoying than anything. Hunter is nice to the xp boosts to some skills but again, I play on insane pop so sneaking isnt particularly viable. First Aid is such a brokenly bad skill it shouldn't even be in the game currently. Agoraphobic is probably the worst of the two, but it is great when paired with adrenaline junkie. Getting into a zombie's line-of-sight is almost always a bad idea, so this perk hurts newer players a lot more than it hurts experienced players. Outdoorsman: I never take it. After about a week in-game you wont be struggling from this anymore.
